Alignment system for 2D materials

Alignment system for stacking 2D materials into heterostructures

The system allows precise (~1µm) positioning and stacking of 2D materials. It was setup in order to prepare graphene/hBN/graphene heterostructure. However it can be used to operate with other VdW 2D materials. The system comprises three main blocks: the substrate holder, the glass slide positioner and the optical microscope (see scheme). Both, substrate holder and glass slide positioner are equipped with a precise micropositioner with many degrees of freedom, which allows controlled alignment of the 2D materials on the glass slide to the substrate. The substrate has a controlled heater. The system is installed in a clean room.

Use of the cleanroom is allowed for trained person!
